Board an authentic houseboat anchored in the beautiful blue waters of Serre-Ponçon lake. These wooden barges used to haul sand along the meandering Loire river, and have now been converted into houseboats for a novel experience in Hautes-Alpes.
These former sand barges have been converted into comfortable houseboats, for you to spend a peaceful night in this well-preserved paradise in the southern French Alps.
Foreston Bay is a place where you can truly get away from it all. The secluded creek visible from the porthole of your cabin is a mere stone’s throw from your floating habitat. The Paillote du Lac is a peaceful place in which to hang out during your slow houseboat holiday. The complex includes a lakeside restaurant, a beach with deckchairs for chilling with a mountain view, an outdoor activity area and a programme of musical entertainment, featuring live outdoor performances.

The Paillote du Lac, a secluded beach at Serre-Ponçon lake
Foreston Bay boasts a secluded creek, a peaceful place to hang out in, on the banks of Serre-Ponçon lake, with a restaurant, beach, leisure activities on the water, outdoor sports, and live musical entertainment by night.
At the Paillote du Lac, you can settle down on the lakeside terrace with a view of the boats. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, serving tasty, seasonal cuisine made from fresh produce and dishes a la plancha.
The Paillote du Lac also provides parasols and deckchairs for lounging on the beach, kayaks and pedal boats for an excursion on Serre-Ponçon lake, facilities for beach volley, pétanque, table tennis and badminton, and live music to dance beneath the stars.
